MATTHEW CONANTMatthew Conant, AKA EMCY is a rapper and a mentor. He was recently released from prison after serving 25 years, from the ages of 19 to 44. Once a gangsta rapper and life prisoner he turned his life around inside, found Christ and turned his gangsta rap into a powerful testimony he calls LIFE MUSIC ( reflecting both the life he found in Jesus and the life of hope his music now delivers .) Convicted in 1992 of Second Degree Murder and sentenced to 20 to Life, he was released by the Board Of Parole Hearings on February 9th, 2017 and has since made it his mission to both mentor youth and give the people LIFE MUSIC as opposed to the negative messages commonly played on heavy rotation.

Giving BackToday, a year after his release, EMCY lives with his wife and works in the community along side of The Training Center in Spring Valley to change wrong thinking. He has done gun buy backs with the San Diego Police Department, getting hundreds of guns off the streets. He has done toy, clothes and food drives. He has spoken at elementary schools, the Salvation Army and anywhere he is called to be of service. In a bold move, CDCR ( California's Prison System ) allowed EMCY, who is still on active parole, go back into the prison at Ironwood and give his testimony and perform his LIFE MUSIC.
